At around 1.30am, Crews from Eastwood fire station were notified about a large water main burst outside their premises.
A major 375mm main gushed out water which put around 25 shops at threat on Rowe St.
Fire & Rescue personnel diverted water from the most seriously affected shops and managed to save them from being inundated.
At 9.00pm, Sydney was hit by a strong storm which went on to produce over a thousand lightning bolts.
The storm slowly moved out to sea lighting up the night sky. Rotation was noted in the storm, and a weak supercell structure was possible.
Cloud to cloud and cloud to ground lightning strikes were noted every few seconds, with the strongest lightning strikes hitting the sea.
At around 4.00pm emergency crews responded to reports of a woman who had fallen approximately 20 meters off a cliff face in Clovelly, NSW.
A fisherman rushed to assist the patient, however the fisherman happened to be a Fire & Rescue NSW Station officer based at Mascot.
The experienced fireman rendered first aid and kept the patient stable.
