Unit destroyed after fire engulfs bedroom in Randwick

At around 6.30pm residents were forced to flee their units in Coogee St, Randwick.

It’s understood a resident saw smoke in his unit and heard a crackling sound. Upon investigating, the male resident saw that a fire had started in a bedroom.

The resident closed the door to the bedroom and fled his apartment. He was able to warn other residents to flee the building.

Surfer drowns after accident at Tamarama beach

At around 2.00pm numerous rescue services responded to reports of a surfer in distress near Tamarama beach.

The surfer, now indentified as Matthew Richell, CEO of Hachette Australia, struggled after being swept up against rocks.

Another surfer had come to his aid, but it appeared Mr Richell was unconscious upon their arrival.

Local rancher Bret Hughson watches a tornado warned storm near Scottsbluff Nebraska

One could say it was a perfect storm. At 6.29pm mountain time, a slow moving supercell thunderstorm produced an elongated funnel and moments later, touchdown.

A tornado could be seen picking up swirling plumes of dirt in the distance, however unlike most of the tornadoes the United States has seen in the past, no property, crops, livestock, pets, buildings or population stood in the path of this photogenic twister.
