Two police officers have suffered minor injuries after their car collided on the intersection of Botany Rd and High St in Mascot at 8:35pm.

The collision was heard and witnessed by a number of patrons from nearby restaurants and shops.

The driver of the parked car was shocked to see a paddy wagon lodged through her back window. This female was talking on her mobile phone at the time of the collision.

It’s understood that another driver contributed to the accident and fled the scene. Police report that this driver later presented himself to Mascot Police Station a short time later. He is being interviewed about the incident.

The two male officers were treated on scene and taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and are expected to make a quick and full recovery.
