![]() READ MORE TO VIEW VIDEO For the first time, the NSW Police have released a community service announcement launching a safety and security awareness campaign. The campaign is not just aimed at the younger generation, but for all people of NSW. NSW Police Commissioner Andrew Scipione said; “This is not just about over indulging in alcohol, but rather making good decisions to avoid putting yourself, your family or your friends in danger.” “It’s about enjoying yourself without the burden of regret.” “We are coming into the time of the year when people are out and about in increased numbers and are involved in a range of activities. Inevitably we see injury and death because of risk taking and poor decisions.” “Plan ahead, talk to your family and friends about where you are going and what you are doing. Having fun doesn’t mean putting yourself or others in dangerous situations,” The NSW Police will be focusing their efforts on formals, schoolies, marine & boat safety, rock fishing, beach safety, security, road use, shopping security, skimming scams, bag snatches, holiday home security, and high temperature issues such as leaving the kids and pets in cars. The Commissioner continued: “All too often my officers prepare reports for the Coroner about motorists who have died in crashes, people who died through misadventure, or those who have made the wrong decision. “At this time of the year, with the warm weather, we should be enjoying ourselves and experiencing the great state we live in, not enduring heartache and mourning the loss of our family and friends,” Commissioner Scipione said. The Commissioner is hopeful that this message will play a part in preventing tragedies from happening.
