![]() READ MORE TO VIEW VIDEO A reluctant hero stood before the media pack early this afternoon, quite shy at all the attention his brave actions brought last night. Senior Constable Glenn Winter from the NSW Water Police, supported by Senior Constable Mahony responded to a call that a man was in the water at Cockle Bay Wharf near Pyrmont Bridge. Glenn explains that he saw the man waving for help but slipped under the surface of the dark waters of Sydney Harbour. He didn’t think twice about jumping in and pulling the man out before he was lost in the depth of the harbour. He explains that his adrenalin was pumping and it’s quite frightening at night. The man was unconscious and not breathing. He began administering medical treatment and docked at the southern end of Cockle Bay Wharf. Ambulances were soon on scene and took over primary care of the patient. The male has been taken to RPA hospital in serious but stable condition. Detective Superintendent Mark Hutchings said that swimming in or near parts of the Sydney Harbour foreshore is off limits and you can be subjected to a $2200 fine. A comment from the father of Glenn Winter, Steve Winter posted on FreeNews this morning said it all. “my son the hero - well done mate !” After the press conference concluded, Glenn was congratulated by his commander and his peers. Glenn returns to work this evening once again supporting the community.
