Double stabbing in Maroubra home

A man is assisting police with inquiries following an assault in Maroubra last night which left two people suffering serious injuries.

About 11pm, police were called to a unit in Maroubra Road, Maroubra following reports of a domestic assault. It is alleged there was an altercation at the premises between a 33-year-old man, a 34-year-old woman and a 26-year-old man.

During the incident, it is alleged the 33-year-old man produced a knife and stabbed the woman multiple times to her abdomen before stabbing the other man a number of times to his back.

A six-year-old boy who was also present at the time was not injured during the incident. The 33-year-old man fled the scene on foot before attending Maroubra Police Station where he is currently assisting police with their inquiries.

The 34-year-old woman and 26-year-old man were taken to the Prince of Wales Hospital where they both underwent emergency surgery and are in critical conditions.

A crime scene was established and the scene was examined by detectives and specialist forensic officers.
