Police are stunned at the stupidity of the latest attacks on Sydney's ATMs. Three separate attacks took place overnight leaving a trial of damage behind.

The first incident happened at 1.45am, when a number of males exploded an ATM on Clovelly Road at Clovelly. The bank has been severely damaged with debris being spread over a wide area.

The thieves abandoned the stolen Audi after it was involved in the blast. Police cordoned off the area with crime scene tape and secondary "Hot Zones" were established to ensure emergency personnel safety. Officers from the Bomb Squad rendered the area and the gas cylinders safe.

Other attacks took place at a bank on Waldron Street at Chester Hill and an ATM at Guildford Road at Guildford.

Strike Force Piccadilly detectives have been assigned to the case.
