Police are investigating a daring art heist in Darling Point.

At some time between Saturday 7th August and Tuesday 10th August a total of 18 artworks worth more than $1.5 million dollars were stolen from a property in New Beach Road in Darling Point.
 
Various artworks include paintings and sketches by Pro Hart, David Boyd, John Perceval, Arthur Streeton and Norman Lindsay.
 
Detectives from Rose Bay Police could not comment on whether the artworks were being offered for sale on the international markets.

Emergency services responded to reports of a kitchen fire on Durdans Ave in Rosebery at 5.30pm.

A child from a neighbouring property smelled smoke and alerted her mother. Frantic efforts were made by the neighbours to gain access to the property but were held back by the thick smoke.

Fire crews attended shortly after the 000 call was made and forced entry into the premises. A thermal imaging camera detected the body of an elderly male in a kitchen pantry.

Bus crashes in Maroubra with multiple injuries & one fatality

Police are investigating a fatal accident where an STA bus and white hatchback collided.

The accident occurred at 6.45pm on Maroubra Rd, Maroubra. A male aged in his late thirties was trapped inside his overturned vehicle and passed away on scene.

The driver of the bus was also trapped for over an hour, whilst specialist rescue crews took the front and side sections of the bus apart with hydraulic shears. The driver was transported to St Vincent’s hospital in a serious but stable condition. He suffered major trauma to his pelvic and lower limbs.
