At 10.15am a home under demolition in Chamberlain Ave Rose Bay was evacuated after a workman found a Grenade in the basement of the house.

Emergency services were called to the scene and closed the road due to safety concerns. A number of residents were evacuated, with some requested not to leave their homes.

Specialist units from the NSW Police Bomb Disposal Squad and Bomb Detection K9 unit were utilised, however further specialist assistance was required from the Militaries Ammunition & Technical Weapons Division.

At 7.15am a unit on Hall St, Bondi exploded showering glass and debris between two neighbouring properties.

No residents were inside the unit at the time and other residents escaped without injury.

It's believed a number of aerosol cans exploded in the kitchen area.

Only a minor amount of structural damage occurred, however an entire glass door was destroyed.

A woman was trapped in her car for over an hour today, after a power pole crashed through her window.

Emergency services attended the scene and secured the area. The power lines draped over her car which were believed to be live.
